Welcome to Room 3's blog. During the rest of this year we will update our blog with things we have been doing and learning in class. We will also add learning games and activities you can do at home. Come back regularly to see what we have been doing. Feel free to add comments to our posts, we love reading them (Just come and see Miss Dalton if you want to learn how to add a comment on our blog)
Today we all came to school dressed as our favourite book characters. We paraded our costumes in the hall and explained to the class who we were. This is our video of us sharing who we are.
We went out to collect some sticks for our pig houses. While we were on the field we piled up all the autumn leaves and had some fun!
Here is a movie we made with our stories and photos.
Over the last two weeks we have been designing and testing our Straw Pig Houses with Miss Watson.
We tested the strength of straw, then we looked at how we could make it into bundles like the Little Pig did and then in groups we built a straw house.
We tested our house for 'Wolf Proofness' by huffing and puffing (with a little help from Miss Dalton's Hairdryer)
We were looking at how the Big Bad Wolf could have caught the Three Little Pigs and we came up with some ideas. We drew pictures of our ideas and explained them using the ipad.
Tracey (Miss Dalton's niece) brought her motorbike to school to show her class. This is the link to Mr Moriarty's blog showing a video of Tracey.
We liked watching it
This week all classes at Parkvale took part in a Learning is.. Slogan competition.
This involved classes having discussion around what the children thought learning meant and what you needed to do to be a good learner. We then as a class came up with a slogan to represent our learning and presented it visually on our class windows or doors.
On Friday at assembly Ms Andersen then displayed our slogans and we presented it as a chant.
Room 3 were very proud to be joint winners for Nga Tipu. (Our Year 1 and 2 classes)
Below is our Slogan, Our winning certificated and Room 3 performing our chant.
Over the last two weeks we cleaned out the giant wild flowers from our garden, dug it over and planted some new vegies. We planted some lettuce, brocoli, snowpeas and some herbs.
We can't wait for the plants to get nice and big so we can have a feast!
